SKILLS ASSURE
Hastings Deering believes that skills training and the opportunity to learn a trade are the building blocks of a successful and sustainable future for Queensland and its people.
The Skills Assure mark identifies recognised providers that offer training subsidised by the Queensland Government. It signifies that Hastings Deering has met or exceeded the quality and expertise standards required to deliver accredited training.
Student Contribution Fees
Understanding Your Training Costs with Hastings Deering RTO
At Hastings Deering, we’re committed to providing high-quality training. As a Skills Assure Supplier (SAS) under the Queensland Government’s funding arrangements, we are required to charge a student co-contribution fee for the Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology (AUR31220), which is delivered as an apprenticeship program.
Why Is There a Student Fee?
Training provides significant benefits, such as increased job opportunities and higher earning potential. To support the cost of government-subsidised training, all students enrolled in Certificate III qualifications must contribute to their training through a student co-contribution fee.
This fee:
Is mandatory for most students.
Can be paid by the student, an employer, a family member, friend, or another organisation.
Cannot be paid or waived by the RTO (Hastings Deering) or any person or entity connected to the RTO.
Co-Contribution Fees – What You Need to Know
For apprenticeships and traineeships, the Queensland Government sets a standard fee structure. At Hastings Deering for apprentices enrolled in AUR31220, this is:
$1.60 per nominal hour for each unit of competency.
This rate is standard across all SAS providers and reviewed annually by the Department of Training and Employment (DTET).
Fee Reductions and Exemptions
Some apprentices may be eligible for a 40% reduced fee or even a full fee exemption depending on individual circumstances.
Reduced Fee Eligibility – Pay Only 40%
You may be eligible if you:
Are under 17 years of age at the end of February in the year training is undertaken, not enrolled in school, and have not completed Year 12.
Hold a Health Care Card, Veteran Card, or Pensioner Concession Card, or are the partner/dependent of someone who holds one of these cards.
Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (First Nations).
Full Fee Exemption
You may qualify for a 100% fee exemption if you are:
Experiencing genuine financial hardship, and
Can provide supporting evidence of your circumstances.
Who Pays the Co-Contribution Fee?
The co-contribution fee can be paid by:
The apprentice

Another third party or support organisation.
However, the fee cannot be paid or waived by Hastings Deering RTO or any related entity.
