‘Guido’ the Sky-Blue Cat 299D3 Compact Track Loader driving awareness for men’s health.
Around 10.8 million men globally are facing life with a prostate cancer diagnosis. Testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men and across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 69% of all suicides.
This men’s health crisis led to the Movember initiative launching in 2003 to address the men’s health crisis on a global scale.
In an industry largely dominated my men, Hastings Deering is acutely aware of the need to drive awareness for these issues, with committed teams across the business working together to fund raise for the cause.
Based on the success of the pink 299D3 that raised awareness for the Mater Chicks in Pink Breast Cancer, Julie Rowe from the Cat Rental Team commissioned the operations team with customising a machine to serve as the company mascot to promote men’s health.
Taking inspiration from the Disney Pixar movie, Cars, the concept of Guido was developed.
Guido’s custom moustache and eyes were the product of collaboration with the Maxi-Tint team.
Over the course of 5 days, the operational team at Hastings Deering disassembled the classic 299D3 Compact Track Loader, sanded the original paint work back and prepped the machine for paint.
The custom Sky-Blue paint used on Guido is synonymous with men’s health campaigns and was completed by Adam Leigh, Hastings Deering Spray Painter.
Throughout the month of November, Guido has played a key role in driving awareness at the Hastings Deering 90-year celebrations, fundraiser lunches and welcoming customers to the Beaudesert Road Business Centre.
Following the November awareness drive, the Sky-Blue Cat 299D3 Compact Track Loader will be entering the Hastings Deering Cat Rental Fleet, available for hire to customers.
